Mid-afternoon sun through a forest gap side-lit this lichen. I used a 35 mm f/1.8 lens on the "P" mode (it shot at 1/100 and f/5.0; ISO 200) . White balance was set to Direct Sunlight (warmed up by 2). My camera tends to overexpose for my liking so I used an exposure compensation of -2/3 EV). What I liked: the contrasting colors and texture of the lichen and the tree stump. What I didn't like: the lack of detail in the image. I'm not sure how much it would have helped, but I wish I would have used my tripod (as well as that nice macro lens that is missing from my collection!) I also would have preferred to have more of the stump around the lichen in focus to show more detail of the tree rings (not sure if this was due to camera shake or needing to use a smaller f-stop?)
